Mekayla has loved to write since elementary school. English was always one of her favorite classes and she's been winning awards for essays since the 6th grade. Mekayla has always been a logophile (a lover of words) and enjoys finding ways to include rare words in her work as both a songwriter and a playwright.

While Mekayla is more well known for her songwriting she is also a playwright, having written multiple One-Act plays that she since directed in their debut performances. More recently she co-wrote a full length play based on J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan," where she was largely responsible for multiple monologues, scenes, and character development.
